FRESNO, Calif. - On Halloween, Friday Oct. 31 the Fresno State women's soccer team will honor its senior class, but will be doing so in a brand new stadium.
Fresno State will proudly unveil the soccer/lacrosse stadium on Friday as the `Dogs take on San Jose State at 7 p.m. The event will serve as the first inaugural soccer game played on the field since the project got underway several years ago.
"It's been a long time coming," head coach Brian Zwaschka said. "We've seen bits and pieces of progress over the last couple years, but this is the final push where all of pieces are coming together with the stands and the lights. It's great and we are all really excited to get out there finally."
The new stadium features lights, hybrid Bermuda grass, a permanent scoreboard, sound system and permeant seating arrangements for spectators and fans.
Fresno State Athletics most recent 2014 addition is located on the Southwest corner of Cedar and Barstow behind Pete Beiden Field and sits on the East side of Bulldog Stadium.
The contest on Friday will be the last chance to catch the `Dogs in action this season as they take on the Spartans at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the annual honoring of the Bulldog senior class.
"It's a really nice send off," Zwaschka added. "They have obviously been hearing about it and we've trained out here with our senior's four years, but to actually get to play a game in the stadium is the biggest thrill of all."
"Be Bold!" - The official home of the Fresno State Bulldogs is 940 AM ESPN Radio.
