Track and Field Announces 2014-2015 Schedule

FRESNO, Calif. --- The Fresno State track and field teams announced their 2014-2015 schedule Tuesday afternoon. The 'Dogs will open their indoor season on the road in Colorado Springs on Dec. 12 at the Air Force Holiday Opener. The `Dogs will compete in a total of six indoor track meets this season, before they compete at the Mountain West Indoor Championship in Albuquerque, N.M. Head coach Scott Winsor is planning to pick up right where the team left off last season; aiming for a Mountain West title this season.
"We are definitely ahead of where we were last year at this point and are pleased with many of the performances in practice," Winsor said. "It takes well balanced team performances to win conference championships. Our goal this season is to make a significant improvement in the conference standings."
The Bulldogs' indoor schedule features one home meet, Run for the Dream, that will take place on Feb. 16 in the Save Mart Center. The `Dogs will travel to Albuquerque for three meets, the Lobo Challenge (Jan. 24), New Mexico Collegiate Challenge (Feb. 6-7) and the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championship (Feb. 26-28).
Fresno State will also travel to Seattle, Wash. twice during indoor season. The first trip will be at the University of Washington Invitational (Jan. 30-31) and then the `Dogs will return on February 13-14 for the Husky Classic.
A select group of track and field athletes will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the NCAA Indoor Championship, which will take place on March 13-14.
The first chance to see the Bulldogs in Outdoor action will be at Veteran's Memorial Stadium for the Fresno State Twilight (Mar. 24) and the final home meet, Saturday, April 25 for the Bulldog Invitational.
Outdoor season will start with a string of meets in California. The `Dogs travel to Mountain West foe San Diego State's home track for the Aztec Invitational on Mar. 26-28. This is important meet for the `Dogs, San Diego State will be hosting the Outdoor Mountain West Championship May 13-16, so it will be their only chance to run at the stadium before the Championship.
The Bulldogs will spend their Spring Recess at the United States Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. This trip will be a great experience for any `Dogs thinking about competing in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The following weekends Fresno State competes at the Stanford Invitational (April 3-4) and then the Sac Mondo Invitational (April 4). Fresno State will split their teams in mid-April; some athletes will be competing at the Mt. SAC Relays (April 16-18) while others travel to Waco, Texas to compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational on Saturday, April 18.
Saturday, April 25 will be the final time you can see your Bulldog seniors at home. They will compete at the Bulldog Invitational at Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
In the month of May the entire Bulldog team will compete at three events, Cal State Northridge Invitational (May 2), Payton Jordan Invitational (May 3) and the Mountain West Conference Championship (May 13-16).
Austin, Texas is the host site for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships, which will take place May 28-30. Those who qualify for this meet will have the opportunity to compete with the best track and field athletes in the western region. The NCAA Championship will take place in Eugene, Oregon on June 10-13.
"Be Bold." --- Make sure you come out and support your `Dogs at home on February 16, March 24, and April 25.
