RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- The Fresno State men's golf team teed off the Farms Collegiate Invitational to finish day one in a tie for seventh place out of 12 teams.
On the day, the Bulldogs (297-297--594) shot 18-over par and recorded 26 birdies.
Keenan Nelson took the lead among the Bulldogs to sit in a tie for 11th place. On the day, Nelson fired two-over par, 146 (74-72) to trail the tournament leader by seven strokes.
Russell Takeuchi sits one stroke behind Nelson at three-over par, 147 (73-74). Takeuchi enters day two of the tournament in a tie for 15th place.
"I was glad to see Keenan and Russell step up today," head coach Chad Spencer said. "We have a great chance to have a solid finish tomorrow."
The two-day, 54-hole tournament is held at par-72, 6,947-yard The Farms Golf Club where the Bulldogs face a field of 69 players.
Round three of the University of San Diego hosted tournament will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 11 with tee times beginning at 8:15 a.m. Follow live scoring at www.golfstat.com and check www.gobulldogs.com for the recap.
