The Fresno State baseball team will close out its five-game homestand this Tuesday evening against Big West opponent Cal State Northridge, first pitch from Beiden Field is set for 6:35 p.m. Following Tuesday's game versus the Matadors, the Bulldogs will venture out for their longest road trip of the season, seven games, and not return to Beiden Field until April 22 to take on the California Bears.
Fresno State most recently dropped its Mountain West conference series to the UNLV Rebels in the series deciding rubber match at home on Sunday. The Rebels limited Fresno State to five hits and blanked the 'Dogs 7-0 in the finale. A day earlier, Fresno State pitcher Tim Borst threw a gem of his own as he tossed a complete game shutout to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 win. The Friday night series opener that paired Jordan Brink vs. Erick Fedde resulted in a 6-0 win for UNLV.
For Borst's efforts in Fresno State's Saturday victory, he was named the Mountain West co-Pitcher of the Week. The nine-inning complete game shutout was the longest outing of Borst's career and he did so without issuing a single walk. (Link to Release)
Fresno State will give the ball to RHP William Munro (2-0, 2.56 ERA) for Tuesday night's start while Northridge will throw RHP Calvin Copping (1-3, 4.42 ERA).
