Tennis Completes Day One of Cal Nike Invite

BERKELEY, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team had 11 victories out of the 18 matches played on Friday at the Cal Nike Invitational in Berkeley, Calif.
The Bulldogs went 8-for-14 in singles play on Friday. Twins Sophie Watts and Anneka Watts led the `Dogs in singles play with two wins each resulting in half of Fresno State's singles victories on day one of the Cal Nike Invite.
Sofya Malysheva, Aishwarya Agrawal, Rana Sherif Ahmed and Anne Susdorf all split their singles matches.
In doubles, Fresno State started fall competition by recording three wins out of the four matches played.
The Watts sisters defeated Hana Ritterova and Regina Suarez of Pacific 8-7 (4). Susdorf teamed with San Francisco's Gen McCloskey to beat Claire Meunier (UC Davis) and Elaine Chesoni (Santa Clara) 8-2, and Ahmed paired with Murtagh to record an 8-4 victory over Cal Poly.
Fresno State continues singles and doubles play today, Sept. 27 at the Hellman Tennis Complex and Channing Tennis Courts in day two of the Cal Nike Invitational.
