Angie Weiner Selected MW Defensive POTW

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State junior defender Angie Weiner has been selected as the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 8-11 following back-to-back shutouts for the Bulldog soccer team. This is Weiner's first career weekly nod.
"I am very honored," Weiner said. "It was really a team effort and it feels good to be able to trust my teammates around me."
"We are happy for Angie to receive this recognition," head coach Brian Zwaschka said. "She represents a defensive effort that has been improving and galvanizing since the beginning. It was great to see the concentration come together over the past few games and we want it to continue for Angie and throughout the team."

Junior, Defender, Saugus, California / Saugus HS
- Started both games along the backline in Fresno State's shutout victories over Colorado College and Air Force.
- Helped hold Colorado College's Sarah Schweiss to five shots and no goals in the Bulldogs' 1-0 win against the Tigers on Oct. 8.
- Was part of a defensive unit that limited Air Force to just seven shots on goal and three corner kicks as Fresno State recorded its second consecutive shutout with a 1-0 victory over the Falcons on Oct. 11.
