Fresno State to Play at Oregon in 2021

FRESNO, Calif. - Director of Athletics Jim Bartko announced Thursday that Fresno State and Oregon have agreed to a one-game contract between the two schools for a 2021 matchup.
The game will be played in Eugene, Ore. on Sept. 4, 2021 at Autzen Stadium. The Bulldogs are also scheduled to play at UCLA two weeks later in that 2021 season.
"This plays into our scheduling philosophy of playing a very high profile football game each year against a Power 5 conference," Bartko said. "There have been some memorable games between Fresno State and Oregon and I'm sure this one will be no different."
Fresno State has a long history of facing off against many national powers. Since 2000 Fresno State has played in 66 non-conference games and 42 of them have been against teams from a Power 5 conference.
Fresno State and Oregon have met eight times in the past, the most recent being in 2012 with the No. 4-ranked Ducks defeated Fresno State 42-25. Oregon jumped out to a 35-6 lead in the first half before Fresno State, which was in just its second game under then first-year head coach Tim DeRuyter, came back in the second half to outscore the Ducks 19-6.
Oregon leads the overall series 6-2 and Fresno State's last win came back in Eugene in 1982.
After a 1997 matchup that saw Oregon edge Fresno State 43-40 in overtime in Eugene, the two schools squared off four times from 2002-07. Three of those were played at Oregon and the 2007 meeting was at Bulldog Stadium. All but one of those games were decided by one score or less.
In 2005, Oregon snuck past the 23rd-ranked Bulldogs 37-34 despite 418 passing yards from quarterback Paul Pinegar. Pinegar had three touchdown passes in the game, but Oregon's Kellen Clemmens threw for 332 yards and four touchdowns.
The 2006 matchup saw No. 20 Oregon score on a four-yard run off a fake field goal with 4:55 left to lift the Ducks past Fresno State 31-24.
