Bulldogs Host Final Home Games of the Season

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State soccer team is set to host its final home games of the season as it faces Nevada on Friday at 7 p.m. PT and UNLV for Senior Day on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Field. Both matches will air live on the Mountain West Network.
The Bulldogs are coming off a rough weekend after dropping matches to Conference-leader San Diego State (2-1) last Friday and New Mexico (5-1) last Sunday.
The 'Dogs are tied for seventh place in the Mountain West with three games left. Nevada is also tied for seventh, while UNLV sits alone in 10th. The top six teams receive invites to the Mountain West Championships in November. The Bulldogs are two points away from sixth place.
Fresno State owns the all-time series record against Nevada 14-1-3, including 5-0-1 at home. Most recently, the Bulldogs won their contest in Reno, Nev., 3-2 in double overtime last season. The last time the Wolf Pack defeated the 'Dogs was in 2005 when they were both members of the Western Athletic Conference.
UNLV and Fresno State share a 3-3-2 all-time series record. Most recently, the Bulldogs shut out the Rebels 1-0 in Las Vegas last year.
About the Wolf Pack (6-8-2, 3-4-1 MW)
Nevada is coming off a successful weekend at home after shutting out Colorado State 2-0 last Friday and Wyoming 1-0 last Sunday. The Wolf Pack are led offensively by senior Lindsey Salcido, who has contributed six goals, three assists and 23 shots with 14 on target.
Fresno native Kelsey Quintos has protected the net in all 16 games for Nevada, saving 70 goals and allowing 20. The junior from Central High School has three shutouts to her name this season.
The Wolf Pack have been outscored (20-16) and outshot (189-144) by opponents in 2015. Nevada has recorded the least amount of shots and assists (8) this season among MW members and also has received the most yellow cards (22).
About the Rebels (8-9-0, 3-5-0 MW)
UNLV split last weekend, losing to Wyoming 2-1 last Friday and defeating Colorado State 3-0 last Sunday. The Rebels are led offensively by senior Jodi Barber, who has racked up six goals, two assists and 25 shots with 10 on goal.
Clovis native Lindsey Dovali has played two games as a defender for UNLV this season. The sophomore from Clovis High School has recorded one shot on goal.
The Rebels have been outscored 24-29 by opponents this season, but have outshot them 268-250. UNLV leads all MW members in shots and assists (29) this season.
UNLV is slated to face San Jose State (8-6-2, 6-2-0 MW) on Friday before traveling to Fresno on Sunday.
By the Numbers for Fresno State (4-10-1, 3-4-1 MW)
- Fresno State head coach Brian Zwaschka is 4-0-2 in his career against Nevada and 2-2-0 against UNLV.
- The 'Dogs are 10-8-1 in MW home games and 5-9-3 when away since joining the conference in 2012.
- Since conference play began this season, Fresno State has scored the fourth-most goals (12) and has recorded the fourth-most assists (10) and shots (117) among MW members.
- Sophomore Myra Delgadillo currently is fourth in goals (5) and points (12) among MW members since MW play began. Through all games, she has recorded 25 shots with a team-leading 15 on goal.
- Sophomore Maria Gomez has a team-leading 32 shots with 10 on target, while junior Alyssa Holsworth has contributed 23 shots with nine of them on goal.
- Marie Berwinkel-Kottmann has started the last six games at the goalkeeper position. Berwinkel-Kottmann has recorded 28 saves and allowed 11 goals in those MW matches.
- Fresno State has a home attendance average of 783 this season, which ranks third in the MW behind New Mexico (1,241) and Colorado State (908).
What's Next
Fresno State will wrap up its regular season on Oct. 30 at San Jose State. The Mountain West Championships begin on Nov. 3 in San Diego in which the top six teams earn invites.
