Vakouftsis Into Semis at Pacific Tiger Invite

STOCKTON, Calif. - Fresno State junior Alexandros Vakouftsis advanced to two semifinals after a strong opening day at the Pacific Tiger Invitational on Friday. The Bulldogs went 4-4 overall on the day.
Vakouftsis started the singles B flight with a three-set victory, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2, over Nevada's Jonathan Aremon. In the quarters, he defeated Alec Wager of Saint Mary's 7-5, 6-4 to advance to Saturday's semifinals.
In the doubles A flight, Vakouftsis joined sophomore Youssef Hassan to defeat the Saint Mary's duo of Matthew Campana and Jacob Lagman, 6-2. With the win, the two will move into Saturday's semifinal match.
In singles A flight action, Hassan earned a 7-6(4), 6-1 victory in the round of 16 over No. 2 seed Ryan Andrada of Nevada. He then fell in quarterfinals to UC Davis' Bryce McKelvie, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.
