`Dogs Gain Momentum Heading to Final Round

STOCKTON, Calif. -- After a tough start to the Pacific Invitational, the Fresno State men's golf team carded a 7-over 291 in Friday's second round, a 19-stroke improvement from Thursday's first round at Stockton Golf and Country Club. The Bulldogs are tied for 13th place with 18 holes remaining at the event.
Alex Lee led Fresno State in the second round with a 1-under 70. He moved up the individual leaderboard into a tie for 24th after an opening round 77.
Lee was one of two 'Dogs to record four birdies on Friday - joining him was Troix Tonkham, Fresno State's day one leader who posted a 4-over 75. In spite of the birdies, Tonkham closed the second round with a 5-over 76. He is tied for 44th entering Saturday's action.
Trevor Clayton cut six strokes off his first round total, carding a 2-over 73, while teammates Cody Riecks and Justin Avery both improved their scores by five strokes, posting a 3-over 74, respectively. Clayton is tied for 56th and Riecks and Avery are both tied for 63rd.
The final round of the Pacific Invitational tees off at 8:30 a.m. The Bulldogs will get started off the 10th tee box at 9:30 a.m. Live scoring can be followed on golfstat.com.
