Noble, Watts Earn Wins at SMC Fall Invite

MORAGA, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team opened up competition at the Saint Mary's Fall Invitational on Friday as freshman Olivia Noble and senior Anneka Watts each picked up singles wins in the B flight. The two also paired together in the doubles A flight, reaching the second round.
In her first collegiate match, Noble defeated Eastern Michigan's Maria Paula Ribero in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. Watts outlasted UC Davis' Jessie Lee after they split the first two sets with identical 6-4 scores. Lee was unable to go any longer and was forced to withdraw with an injury. Watts' second round match will start tomorrow at 10 a.m., PT, with Noble starting at 11 a.m.
Together in the A flight, Noble and Watts picked up an 8-3 win over Portland's Radina Dimitrova and Tatiana Grigoryan, before falling 8-1 in the second round to San Jose State's Marine Dans and Sybille Gauvain. They will open tomorrow's competition in the consolation round at 8:30 a.m.
