Alike Weekend Series, 'Dogs Sweep MW Weekly Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State outfielder Brody Russell has earned Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week, while teammate Jake Shull was named MW Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, February 15, 2015. It is the first MW weekly honor in both players' careers.
MOUNTAIN WEST BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

· Led the Bulldogs to an opening weekend three-game sweep against UC Irvine.
· Posted a batting average of .583 (7-for-12) with three runs scored, five runs batted in and one home run.
· In the 5-4 win on Friday, was 3-for-3 with one run scored, one RBI, one walk and one sacrifice.
· Singled in the ninth inning as the leadoff hitter to start the winning rally.
· Was 1-for-4 in Saturday's 7-5 victory with one run scored and one RBI.
· Drove home the game-tying run with an RBI single in the seventh inning and scored the go-ahead run on Taylor Ward's RBI triple in the next at-bat.
· Had three hits in five at-bats in Sunday's 7-5 series' finale with one run scored, three RBI and one home run.
· Sparked a two-out rally in the seventh inning, singling in the Bulldogs first run of the game to cut their deficit to 5-1. Followed up in the eighth inning with a two-run home run to give Fresno State its first lead of the game, 6-5.
· His two games with three hits each tied a career-high for hits in a game.
MOUNTAIN WEST BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

· Earned two of the three Bulldogs' victories last week over UC Irvine pitching in relief.
· On Friday, threw the final 2.0 innings, giving up just one hit and striking out one batter for the 5-4 win.
· In Sunday's 7-5 victory, came in with Fresno State down 5-2 and gave up just one hit on nine pitches. Threw the last five outs of the game, getting UC Irvine to hit into a double play to end the game.
