Fresno State Moves Up to No. 33 in ITA Rankings

FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno State women's tennis team moved up No. 33 in the ITA rankings on Tuesday, the team's highest ranking since Feb. 4, 2010 when the team was 29th in the country.
"Being No. 33 in the country is a great honor and we hold it in high prestige, but our goal is to be higher. We will do what we have been doing and keep taking it one match at a time and see where that takes us," head coach Ryan Stotland said.
The Bulldogs have reached this point after winning its sixth straight dual match in a row, the second such streak this season. Since dropping their first two matches of the year, the `Dogs have won 12 of their last 13 matches to hold a 12-3 overall mark.
The team has risen to its recent ranking due in part to its top three players which hold a combined 43-8 record this season. No. 45 Sophie Watts leads the team with a 15-2 record, while sisters Maiar and Rana Sherif Ahmed are both 14-3.
