`Dogs Host Green Bay and Navy on Tuesday

FRESNO, Calif. - After dropping their
first conference match of the season, the Fresno State men's tennis team looks
to get back on track Tuesday with a pair of dual matches against Green Bay and
Navy that will be held at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The Bulldogs will
host the Phoenix at 11 a.m., PT, and the Midshipmen at 4 p.m.
A Look at Green Bay
·
The Phoenix
are 10-4 overall this season, with three of its four losses coming to ranked
opponents.
·
Howard Scott
has the team's top record at 10-2 overall, going 8-2 at No. 3 and 2-0 at No. 2.
Green Bay has won 10 matches in four of its six spots.
·
The Phoenix
are 13-24 overall in doubles play.
A Look at Navy
·
The
Midshipmen are 13-4 overall, and are 3-2 in their last five matches.
·
13 tennis
players have seen the court in singles competition this season for Navy
·
Tyler
Burnett, Walker Sims and Aries Wong have each gone 7-3 in their last 10 matches
Last Time Out
·
The Bulldogs
were defeated 4-1 by Utah State in Fresno in the team's conference-opening
match.
Doubling Up
·
Since Sai Kartik
Nakireddi and Nikolas Papic teamed
up in doubles beginning on Feb. 14, the duo has gone 7-1.
·
Adam Glynn
and Euan McIntosh
are 5-2 on the year, though five of their matches have gone unfinished.
Freshman Rolling
·
Since falling
his first match of the season, Joshua Zeoli
has been on a roll, losing just one match since as he holds a 5-2 singles
record, which is tied for the best on the team with Nikolas Papic.
Winning From the Bottom
·
Fresno State
has relied on the back end of its order, as the team has posted records of 6-3,
8-3 and 8-4 at the four, five and six spots in its lineup compared to none of
the top three spots holding a record above .500.
Papic Earning Conference Honors
at Six
·
Despite playing
in the No. 6 position last week against Loyola Marymount, Nikolas Papic
earned Mountain West Player of the Week honors on Feb. 26 after earning the
dual-match clinching point in three sets. The Santiago, Chile native also
teamed up with Sai Kartik
Nakireddi to capture the doubles clinching point.
