Avery Leading 'Dogs at Duck Invite

EUGENE, Ore. - Freshman Justin Avery leads the Fresno State men's golf team at the University of Oregon Duck Invitational after Monday's first two rounds, he carded an 8-over 152 on a cold and wet day at Eugene Country Club.
Avery, in his second tournament of the spring, shot a 3-over 75 in the morning, leading the next best Bulldog score by five strokes. In the second round, Avery was 5-over (77) to end the day tied for 41st.
As a team, Fresno State is in 14th place. The Bulldogs carded a 15-over 303 in the afternoon after getting off to a 27-over 315 start at the Duck Invite.
Freshman Cody Riecks led for much of the 'Dogs first round, with a potential team low score, but was disqualified by the official scorer at the end of the first round, forcing Fresno State to forfeit his opening round score.
The first two rounds averaged over-par scores from the field in the rain at Eugene CC, coming in at 76.23 between 82 rounds during the opening round and 76.31 between 83 rounds during the second-18.
The final round of the Duck Invitational begins at 8:30 a.m. (PT) Tuesday morning with a shotgun start. Follow live results at Golfstat.com.
