Track & Field To Host Twilight Meet Tuesday

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's track and field teams are set to open up the outdoor season on Tuesday, March 24 when the Bulldogs host the Fresno State Twilight meet at Veterans Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High School.
Competing with the Bulldogs in the first outdoor meet of the season is CSU Bakersfield, Cal Poly and San Jose State.
The meet will start at 5 p.m. and open with the field events of the men's shot put and women's discus. Running events will start at 5:15 p.m. with the men's and women's 100-meter dash and the schedule of events concludes at 6:40 p.m. with an exhibition 3,000-meter.

Fresno State returns a number of athletes who last season qualified for the NCAA West Regionals, including 2014 Mountain West long jump champion Je'Nia Sears who went on to finish seven in the NCAA Championships in the event. Sears is also coming off her second indoor long jump championship in three years, leaping 20 feet, 7 inches(6.27 meters) back in the end of February to win the 2015 indoor title.
The women's 4x400 relay team of Kyra Johnson, Njeri Omawahleh, Dezirae Johnson and Sears that qualified for the NCAA West Regionals last year is back in tact. In the indoor season, that squad finished second at the MW Championships with a time of 3.41.75 - with Kimberley Efonye taking Sears' spot in the relay.
On the men's side, returning NCAA qualifiers from last year include Brice Sandri (discus) and Devin Harrison (long jump). Harrison won the 2014 Mountain West long jump title with a leap of 25 feet, 4.5 inches (7.73 meters).
Heat/flight sheets will be posted at gobulldogs.com by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 23. The meet will be dual scored between all teams allowing for two counters on the men's side and three on the women's side. Scoring will be 5-3-2-1 for individual events and 5-3 for relays.
