`Dogs Blank Air Force and Sonoma State

FRESNO, Calif. -- The Fresno State men's tennis team put together a pair of strong showings on Sunday, defeating both Air Force and Sonoma State, 4-0, at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead, earning the doubles point behind a 6-1 win from Euan McIntosh and Youssef Hassan, and a 6-2 win by Sai Kartik Nakireddi and Nikolas Papic. McIntosh made quick work of Max Olson at No. 4, defeating the Falcon 6-0, 6-1. Eric Komati then followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory himself on court five. After also earning a 6-0 first-set win, Papic clinched the dual match against Air Force by taking the second set 6-2 over Lucas Fumagalli.
During the afternoon, McIntosh and Hassan began things again in doubles play, claiming a 6-1 win on court three. As they did in the morning, Nakireddi and Papic finished off the doubles point at No. 2 as the duo picked up a 6-4 victory.
Moving up to No. 5 for the afternoon match, Hassan began the Bulldogs' run in singles competition with a 6-1, 6-2 win which was quickly followed by his doubles partner who won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4. Playing in his first match of the day, Jakob Keppelmann defeated Matt Weeber at No. 6, 6-2, 6-2, to finish off the Seawolves.
Fresno State will be off for the next two days before starting a stretch of four road matches in seven days. The team will begin with a trip to Irvine, Calif., to face UC Irvine at 9:30 a.m., PT, on April 1.
