ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- On a gusty day during the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Men's Tennis Championships, fourth-seeded Fresno State was unable to get anything going against fifth-seeded Boise State as the Bulldogs were defeated 4-0 on Thursday at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
Thomas Tenreiro and Lewis Roskilly first defeated Youssef Hassan and Euan McIntosh, 6-3, to open doubles competition. Attempting to make a comeback, Adam Glynn and Eric Komati were too far back against Brian Foley and Abe Hewko as they fell 6-3 to give the Broncos the opening point.
Boise State's momentum carried over into singles as Hewko topped Hassan 6-1, 6-4 on Court Six. Shortly after, Tenreiro defeated McIntosh 6-3, 6-1 to put the Broncos on the brink of winning the match.
As Sai Kartik Nakireddi and Nikolas Papic playing in third sets, Komati and Glynn were building comebacks and were on the verge of forcing deciding third sets in their matches as well. Before they could reach a final set though, Nakireddi was dispatched 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot.
The loss ends the Bulldogs season with a 16-10 record.
