Bulldog Track & Field Hits the Road One Last Time

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno state track and field teams are back on the road for its last meets before the 2015 Mountain West Championships, competing in southern California at the Northridge Invitational while sending one Bulldog up to the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational.
The women's 1500m and 5000m school record-holder, Annemarie Schwanz, is on a tremendous performance streak for the Fresno State track team. Schwanz will be the heading north to Stanford, Calif. to compete in the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational at Stanford, May 2.
Last weekend in the Bulldog Invitational, the Germany-native competed in the women's 800m and finished with a time of 2:08.64, which placed her as the second-best mark in Fresno State school history and fourth in the Mountain West this year. Schwanz will be competing in the 1500m this weekend at Stanford University.
The rest of the Bulldogs will be heading down the road to Northridge, Calif. where they will compete against Cal State Northridge, UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton in the Northridge Invitational also on Saturday, May 2. The men's hammer throw will begin at 9:30 a.m. as the meet's opener, while competition in the Matador Track & Field Complex takes off with the first field event at 10:30 a.m. and track event at 2 p.m.
At the Bulldog Invitational last weekend, sophomore Njeri Omawahleh ran a personal-best in the women's 200m with a time of 23.79, which also placed her as the second-best mark in Fresno State school history. The former Edison athlete will be competing this weekend in the 200m and the 4x400m relay with teammates Kyra Johnson, Kimberley Efonye and Dezirae Johnson.
On the men's side, senior thrower Brice Sandri won the men's discus at the Bulldog Invitational with a throw of 176 feet, 1 inch (53.86m). The 2014 NCAA qualifier will be competing for the Bulldogs in discus again this weekend at the Northridge Invitational.
