FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's golfer Madchen Ly will tee off the 2015 NCAA Regional Championship on Thursday morning at Warren Golf Course (par 72/6,301 yards) in South Bend, Ind - hosted by Notre Dame. It is a three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes scheduled each day.
"It's going to be a great week here in Indiana for Madchen at the Notre Dame Regional," said Fresno State head coach Emily Milberger. "She has been working hard on her short-game leading up to this event, and I know that is going to play a big role in her rounds this week. This is a course that will definitely challenge the field, but I know that Madchen is ready to tackle those hurdles as she is in a great place with her game right now."
Ly will represent Fresno State as one of six individual participants selected to compete at the regional, alongside 18 teams (five players per team) that qualified for the postseason tournament. Ly is the No. 1 seed among the six individual participants.
"I'm really excited for this week," said Ly. "The course is in great shape and I'm just looking forward to going out there and competing. Being here in Indiana with my coach has already been a blast. She's a big reason why I'm the player that I am. She's taught me so many things, and without her support I don't think I would be here right now."
The low three individuals, and six lowest teams scores will advance to the finals at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla., May 22-27. The format applies to the other three regionals also set to start on Thursday - Raleigh, North Carolina (Lonnie Poole Golf Course), San Antonio, Texas (Briggs Ranch Golf Club) and St. George, Utah (Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club).
Ly is slated to tee off at 8:45 a.m. ET (5:45 a.m. PT) off the No. 1 tee box. Teams, players within teams and individual competitors will be re-paired based on round one scores for day two.
