SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Fresno State senior Madchen Ly closed her prolific Bulldog career on Saturday at the NCAA Regional at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. Ly fired a final round 72 to finish the tournament 7-over (77-74-72--223) in a tie for 26th overall.
Ly carded three of her five birdies over the 54-hole tournament on Saturday. She started the day with back-to-back birdies on holes one and two. Ly closed the front nine at even-par. The Bulldog senior stayed the course on the back nine, posting one birdie and one bogey to finish the final 18 holes with an even-par 72.
Pars were consistent throughout Ly's regional, posting 38 on 54 holes. Only eight golfers among the 96-player field posted more.
The three individual qualifiers were Michaela Fletcher of Memphis (1-over, 217), Leilanie Kim from Idaho (2-over, 218) and Kentucky's Isabelle Johansson (3-over, 219). The three lowest individual scores between the 12 teams that did not qualify for nationals and the six individual regional selections earned spots as individual participants for the Championships, May 22-27.
Duke, Wake Forest, UC Davis, Arizona, Tulane and Purdue were the top six teams to qualify out of the Notre Dame Regional.
