Pair of Bulldogs Earn Summer League All-Star Honors

FRESNO, Calif. - A pair of Fresno State baseball players have earned all-star bids in their respective summer leagues. Senior pitcher Dominic Topoozian in the West Coast Baseball League and sophomore pitcher Rickey Ramirez in the Northwoods League will each represent their clubs in all-star games.
Topoozian, playing for the Victoria Harbourcats in British Columbia, Canada, was selected to the North squad for the 2015 WCL All-Star Game set for July 20 at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham, Wash. One of 21 players selected to the North team, the Clovis native has pitched in eight games this summer making six starts. He has a 3-3 record with a 2.61 ERA pitching a team-high 41.1 innings and has a club-best 29 strikeouts.
Ramirez, playing for the Mankato Moondogs in Minnesota, will play in the Northwoods League All-Star Game on July 21 at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc. Representing the North Division, the sophomore has appeared in 13 games this summer making one start. The Marysville, Calif. native has a 1-1 mark with a 2.76 ERA in 26.0 innings and has 34 strikeouts and a team-best three saves.
Finally, Zach Ashford, an incoming freshman outfielder from Clovis, Calif. and Buchanan High School has been named to the CBS MaxPreps All-American Team. Ashford adds this honor to his recent list of accolades that includes being named the Fresno Bee All-Area Player of the Year and to the Region 8 ABCA/Rawlings High School All-Region team. Ashford wrapped up his senior season with a .478 batting average, 36 runs scored and 27 stolen bases to lead the Bears to a 29-4 record.
