FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter announced Wednesday the hiring of Jimmy Morimoto as the Bulldogs' new director of player personnel.
"We are really excited to add Jimmy to our staff. He has tremendous experience recruiting not only the Mountain West, but the entire west coast that is our footprint," DeRuyter said. "I think he'll be able to expand our footprint and get us in some recruiting areas that we previously have not been.
"He's a great family guy, has tremendous references and we look forward to him having a very successful career in helping us compete to win championships."
Morimoto's role at Fresno State will focus on recruiting operations for the program.
He comes to Fresno State after nine seasons at UNLV, including the last six where he served as its director of player personnel.
Morimoto started his Rebel career as an assistant video coordinator, serving in that role during the 2007 season before becoming the assistant recruiting coordinator.
Prior to UNLV, Morimoto coached for 15 seasons at H.P. Baldwin High School in Wailuku, Hawai`i, the last two as head coach, where he went a combined 21-2-1 in 2005-06.
Morimoto earned his bachelor's degree in 2002 from the University of Phoenix, his teaching certificate in 2004 from Chaminade University and also earned his master's degree from Walden University in 2007.
He and his wife, Tammie, have four children, Alyssa, Jimmy Jr., Karissa and Jaden; and three grandchildren.
