Faz Davalos Named MW Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State redshirt sophomore Bego Faz Davalos was selected Mountain West Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday. The center helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record last week as she posted back-to-back double-doubles against Nevada and Boise State.
In the two games, Faz Davalos averaged 13.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.5 steals. Her two double-doubles pushed her conference lead to seven and ranks 27th nationally in the category.
On Jan. 6 at Nevada, the Monterrey, Mexico native scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked three shots in the 67-59 win. Three days later against Boise State, she posted 13 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks. With the game tied at 57, Faz Davalos blocked a key shot that led to a 3-pointer as the Bulldogs took the lead with 1:28 left in the game.
Fresno State currently sits atop the Mountain West standings with a 4-0 record in conference. Next up for Faz Davalos and the Bulldogs is a trip to San Jose State on Jan. 16 at 2 p.m., PT.
