No. 66 Bulldogs drop 5-2 result at Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The No. 66 Fresno State men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Santa Clara on Saturday at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs opened play with a 6-4 doubles win at No. 1 by Euan McIntosh and Mantas Bugailiskis, but Fresno State dropped the opening point with a pair of 7-6 results in the other two matches. The Broncos then took a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 by Connor Garnett over Bugailiskis.
McIntosh pulled the 'Dogs back within one as he claimed a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Ashot Khacharyan in the No. 1 match. Santa Clara though would pick up wins at the No. 2 and 5 spots to secure the dual match win. Freshman Patrik Pech would record Fresno State's final point of the day with a 7-6, 6-4 win in the sixth position over Sebastien Mathieu.
The Bulldogs will return home for a doubleheader on Monday versus Saint Mary's and Fresno City College. Both matches will be played at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center and are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
