McIntosh and Hassan advance to quarterfinals of ITA Northwest Regionals

BERKELEY, Calif. - The Fresno State men's tennis team finished day three of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Regional Championships hosted by Cal. Highlighted by Euan McIntosh who advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles bracket and the doubles pair of McIntosh and Hassan who will play in the doubles quarterfinals.

No. 16 seed McIntosh bested Ruadhan O'Sullivan of Gonzaga (6-1, 6-3) in the round of 32. In the round of 16, McIntosh defeated No. 7 seed Sameer Kumar of Stanford in a three-set battle (6-1, 3-6, 6-0). McIntosh's run came to an end in the quarterfinals; McIntosh fell to No. 3 seed Billy Griffith (7-5, 6-3).

Rounding out singles play, Youssef Hassan was bested by No. 7 Sameer Kumar of Stanford in the round of 32.

No. 6 seed McIntosh and Hassan bested Garnett and Seby of Santa Clara (8-6). The pair advanced to defeat No. 9 seed Hakak and Douglas of Washington (8-5) in the round of 16. The pair will play in the quarterfinals Sunday at 11 a.m. PT.

Bugailiskis and Veys defeated No. 9 seed Zemaitalis and Mikus Losbergs of Sacramento State (8-5). The duo fell to No. 3 seed Goransson and Griffith of Cal (8-2).

In the consolation bracket, Mantas Bugailiskis defeated Sebastien of Washigton (6-4, 6-4). Xander Veys defeated Jackson Hawk of Saint Mary's (6-2, 6-1). The second round of the consolation bracket will begin at 2:00 p.m. PT.
