Bulldogs head to the Centennial State for must-win weekend

The Fresno State women’s soccer team kicks off against Colorado College on Friday at 2 p.m. PT and Air Force on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team travels to the Centennial State to face a pair of must-win games this weekend as the Bulldogs face Colorado College on Friday at 2 p.m. PT and Air Force on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

The 'Dogs (7-8-1, 2-5-1 MW) currently sit in 10th place in the MW with seven points and head into the weekend needing to come away with two wins to stay in the hunt for the MW Championship. The top six teams in the conference advance to the MW Tournament in November.

The Tigers (7-9-0, 3-5-0) and Falcons (7-6-2, 3-4-1) enter the weekend in similar situations, fighting to stay alive in the competitive MW. Colorado College has dropped its last three matches and Air Force has split three of four weekends in conference play.

Twelve of Colorado College's 16 games have included a shutout this season, with seven of them going the way of the Tigers, including each of their three MW wins. However, they have been outscored by opponents 22-15 this year and own the lowest amount of shots (73) and saves (21) among MW members during conference play.

The Tigers' longest winning streak this year has been two games, which they've done three times.

Offensively, Colorado College is led by sophomore forward Clara Richter, who has five goals on 41 shots and 25 shots on goal; three of Richter's goals were game-winning. Sophomore midfielder Lauren Milliet has added three scores of her own to rank second on the team.

Protecting the net throughout MW play has been junior Louisa Mackenzie, notching 21 saves, a 1.38 goals-against average and three shutouts.

About the Falcons (7-6-2, 3-4-1 MW)
Air Force has outscored opponents 21-17 and owns the best save percentage (.830) among MW members this season. The Falcon offense is led by sophomore Bre Robertson, who has scored all four of her goals in conference play. Junior forward Brooke Rittmann has added four scores this year as well.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Hiddink leads the Air Force defense, racking up the second-most saves (46) among conference members during MW play this season. Overall, she has recorded 63 saves and a 1.08 goals-against average this year.

Bulldog Bites
- Each of Fresno State's game-winning goals have been scored by a different player this season; seven Bulldogs with at least one game-winning goal is the most since 2010 (7).
- The Bulldogs are 4-2-1 when scoring in the first half this year; during MW play, Fresno State has scored 67 percent of its goals in the first half, compared to 14 percent during non-conference games.
- Junior forward Myra Delgadillo continues to improve career-highs with 23 points, eight goals, seven assists, 47 shots and 22 shots on goal.
- Delgadillo needs five points, one goal and one assist to crack the Fresno State all-time top 10 list in those respective categories.
- Freshman forward Julia Glaser and junior forward Peyton Cline have added five and three goals, respectively, this season, making it the first time that three players have notched at least three goals in a year since 2011 when six different players had at least three goals.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Marie Berwinkel-Kottmann has started five of eight conference games this year, including the last two. She has 22 saves, a 1.43 goals-against average and two shutouts this season.
- Berwinkel-Kottmann ranks seventh and ninth on Fresno State's all-time top 10 lists in career shutouts (5) and saves (73), respectively.
