'Dogs conclude day two at ITA All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. – Four Fresno State men's tennis players competed in the singles prequalifying rounds of the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Tournament this weekend. Senior Euan McIntosh and sophomores, Mantas Bugailiskis, Jeremy Moser and Patrik Pech received the invite to compete in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association tournament of the 2016-17 season.Â

McIntosh advanced the farthest in the prequalifying rounds for the Bulldogs. The senior defeated Gustavo Almeida of South Dakota State (6-2, 6-0), Alex Jesse of Illinois (6-3, 6-4) and Louisville's George Hedley (6-3, 6-4). McIntosh's run ended in the round of 32 on Sunday, when he fell to No. 3 seed Joe DiGuilio of UCLA (6-1, 7-6).

Pech defeated Vuk Budic of Illinois (6-4, 6-4) before falling to Duke's TJ Pura (6-2, 6-2) in the second round.

Moser fell to Georgia State's Jack Macfarlane (7-5, 6-3) in his first round match-up. Fellow sophomore Bugailiskis was defeated in a three-set match by South Alabama's Juan Cruz Soria (6-2, 2-6, 6-1) in the first round.

The Bulldogs' No. 37 doubles team, Euan McIntosh and Mantas Bugailiskis, will compete on the doubles side of the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Tournament on Monday. The duo earned the No. 8 seed in the tournament and will face Johan den Toon and Jose Salazar of Arkansas at 10 a.m. PT.Â
