FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State men's tennis head coach Luke Shields announced the signing of Milos Nikolic for the Spring 2017 season. Nikolic will join the Bulldogs as a freshman and have four years of eligibility.
Nikolic, originally from Serbia has a current ATP ranking of No. 1421 in singles and ATP ranking of No. 1333 in doubles.
"We are really excited to add Milos to our team," Shields said. "He has some great qualities and I look forward to seeing him develop. If he matures and develops how I envision he will be able to compete with some of the best players in the country."
Nikolic advanced to the quarterfinals of Future (ATP tournament) in Greece in singles and semifinals in doubles. He also qualified for eight main draw Future (ITF pro circuit) tournaments.
"The one thing that stood out recruiting Milos is his passion and desire to be great," Shields said. "If Milos manages his emotions he's capable of doing something pretty special."
Â
Nikolic will join fellow spring additions Henrique Wojciechowski and Ignasi de Rueda de Genover to complete the Bulldog roster for Spring 2017.
Â
"I was honored to have Coach Shields interested in me and my tennis skills," Nikolic said. "I am looking forward to being a part of the team and the Bulldog Family. I will do my best to improve myself both on the tennis court and in the classroom."
Â
The men's tennis team will open up their spring campaign at the University of the Pacific on Jan. 14 and return to Fresno for their home opener on Jan. 20 at 2:00 p.m. PT against Cal Poly.
