ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - To kick off the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, the quartet of Dezirae Johnson, Nailah Harris-Murillo, Meagan Paracholski and Annemarie Schwanz earned silver in the distance medley relay on Thursday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Their time of 11:28.45, which converts to an altitude adjusted time of 11:18.04, stands as the 18th-fastest time recorded in the NCAA this season. Boise State topped the Bulldogs for first place. The Broncos (11:16.41) and Bulldogs (11:28.45), followed by Wyoming (11:31.66), Air Force (11:36.60) and Colorado State (11:37.07) in order of finish, each busted the previous Mountain West meet record of 11:37.96 set by BYU in 2007.
"This is very exciting," said assistant track and field coach Chris Baptista. "We ran extremely well and this is a great start to our weekend."
The running order for Fresno State was Paracholski (1200m), Harris-Murillo (400m), Johnson (800m) and Schwanz (1600m). The group earned eight points for the Bulldogs.
