No. 30 Fresno State earns 4-1 win over Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. - The No. 30 Fresno State women's tennis team concluded play at the 2016 ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship on Sunday with a 1-2 record after picking up a 4-1 win over Wisconsin on the team's final day of competition at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
The Bulldogs (3-3) grabbed the doubles point for the second time in its three matches in Madison, Wis., getting wins from the pairs of Sofya Malysheva/Oliva Noble at No. 3 and Mayar Sherif Ahmed/Rana Sherif Ahmed at No.1. Rana Sherif Ahmed made it 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Kendall Kirsch on court three.
Sophie Watts pulled the 'Dogs within one point of the win as she topped Ekaterina Stepanova at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-4 win. The Badgers (2-3) were able to pull one back as No. 66 Lauren Chypyha upset No. 26 Mayar Sherif Ahmed in the No. 1 spot, 6-1, 7-6(4).
Anneka Watts then ended the dual match on court six with a three-set victory over Sydney Rider. After dropping the first set 3-6, Watts regrouped and won the final two sets 6-1, 6-1.
The 'Dogs return home on Feb. 13 with a split-venue doubleheader in Fresno. The Bulldogs will face Cal Poly at 10 a.m. at Copper River Country Club before playing Santa Clara at 3 p.m. at Fig Garden Swim & Racquet Club.
