FRESNO, Calif. - Getting six strong innings on the mound from starting pitcher Jimmy Lambert and 11 hits as a team, Fresno State snapped its seven-game losing skid on Saturday defeating UNLV 6-2 at Pete Beiden Field.

Fresno State (12-7, 3-2 MW) had an explosive night from the plate recording 11 hits with eight different 'Dogs notching at least one hit. Junior right fielder Jake Stone had a career-high three hits, including a double and his first home run of the season to go along with two RBIs. Korby Batesole was the other Bulldog with multiple hits as the sophomore shortstop had a pair of singles and drew a walk.

UNLV (8-9, 3-2 MW) had eight hits in the game as seven different Rebels had at least one base knock. Second baseman Justin Jones was the lone Rebel with two hits getting a double and scored a run.

Scoring first for the 13th time this season, the 'Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a one-out double down the left field line by Brody Russell to bring home Zach Ashford from second base. Ashford, making his first start of the season in the leadoff role, drew a walk to open the game and moved to second on a groundout to first by Stone.

The Rebels answered with a run of their own to tie things up in the second, the lone run allowed by Lambert, but the Bulldogs responded right away tagging on two more runs in the bottom of the second.

Junior third baseman Jesse Medrano got the two-out rally started with a single and moved to second on a throwing error by UNLV's shortstop. Freshman second baseman Jeremiah Burks followed with a RBI single to right center to bring home Medrano and Burks came around to score a double to left center by Stone.

The 'Dogs added three runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding 6-1 lead. Stone led off the inning with a home run shot to right field. Aaron Arruda followed with his team-high seventh double and was brought home by a RBI single to right by Joe Prior. Prior moved to third base after a Batesole single, and came around to score on a wild pitch.

That was more than enough run support for Lambert as the junior worked six strong innings on the mound limiting UNLV to five hits, one earned run and tied his career high with nine strikeouts. Lambert was especially locked in early getting five of those strikeouts in the first two innings.

Brennon Williams came in for the final three innings allowing three hits, one unearend run in the seventh, and picked up his first save of the season.

The Bulldogs and Rebels will play the rubber match of the series on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. at Pete Beiden Field. With it being Junior Bulldogs Weekend, all kids 12 and under will get into the game for free as well as all active military and veterans. Kids will also be able to run the bases after the game.

Notes
- The 'Dogs 11 hits are tied for the second most in a game this season.
- The six runs scored were the most the 'Dogs have scored since scoring 10 against San Diego State on March 5.
- It was Stone's second career home run and fifth multi-hit game of the season.
- Batesole now has a team-high six multi-hit games.
- Lambert has allowed only three walks and three earned runs in 34.0 innings this season.
- It was Williams' second career save.
