Fresno State falls 4-3 to UNLV

FRESNO, Calif. - For the second time in five days at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center, the Fresno State men's tennis team was defeated 4-3 as Thursday's dual match versus UNLV went down to the final singles match. The Bulldogs dropped to 8-11 on the year while the Rebels improved to 8-6.
In back-and-forth doubles play that saw Fresno State hold early leads, UNLV grabbed a pair of 7-5 victories on courts two and three. The Rebels then took a 2-0 edge as Jakob Amilon ousted Nikolas Papic 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 position.
Youssef Hassan began to turn the tide for the Bulldogs as the sophomore picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Charlie Croxford. Freshman Patrik Pech then defeated Evaldo Neto 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4. The Bulldogs took their first lead of the dual as junior Euan McIntosh knocked off Ruben Alberts 6-3, 6-0.
One win away from the clinch, Fresno State was unable to put the dual match away as UNLV rallied back. Alexandr Cozbinov defeated Mantas Bugailiskis on court two to tie the dual match at 3-3 before Richard Solberg outlasted Jakob Keppelmann 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-1 in the final match.
Fresno State will travel to Boise, Idaho for its next match. The 'Dogs will face Boise State on April 8 at 5 p.m. PT.
