FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team plays host to Sacramento State on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. PT on the Fresno State football practice field in its first 2016 spring scrimmage. The match is free and open to the public.
"This is the first opportunity this spring for us to get out and assess the match-fitness level of our players," Fresno State head coach Brian Zwaschka said. "It's a small group right now, which means everybody will get to play a lot and we have some young players that haven't gotten the chance to get significant minutes in games, so we're excited to watch them and assess their game development."
This will be the Bulldogs' only scrimmage in March and the team will announce April and May scrimmages in the coming weeks.
"I think it would be a great start to the spring to get fans excited about coming out to games again," Zwaschka added. "This is a great chance for them to get to know some of our younger players."
The 'Dogs return 17 student-athletes for the 2016 season, including three seniors, nine juniors, four sophomores and a redshirt freshman. Zwaschka is retuning for his eighth season at the helm of the Bulldogs and has coached the most games in program history (141).
