FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team continues its spring scrimmage schedule as it heads to Ramirez Field at Fresno Pacific on Saturday at 3 p.m. PT.
"We have been developing all aspects of the game, but spending a fair amount of time concentrating on more position-specific aspects to really refine the individual contributions within the team context," said Fresno State head coach Brian Zwaschka. "The effort has been terrific and we have been relentless about the importance of all the small details."
This is the third of five scheduled scrimmages for the team.
"We are looking for the individuals to address their specific roles with a higher level of execution," Zwaschka added. "A huge focus for this match is the solidarity that is developing in the units. Our squad is very small, so they have had to have each other's backs, and it has shown in the scrimmages we've played so far."
The Bulldogs defeated Sacramento State 1-0 in March and the Fresno Freeze 2-1 last Saturday. Junior Myra Delgadillo has scored twice this spring and redshirt freshman Racine Babb found the back of the net for the first time in a scrimmage or game as a Bulldog.
"We were excited to host the Freeze as they start preparations for their second season," Zwaschka said. "They featured many former Bulldogs who all showed well in the game. Our fitness level helped us endure and manage the game and probably gave us an edge overall. It was a good competitive game and included many experienced players that threw a variety of challenges at us, so we had to play with our heads. I was pleased that we found a way to win late in the contest."
The Bulldogs are scheduled for two road scrimmages, including University of the Pacific on April 24 at 3:30 p.m. and Cal Poly on May 1 at 1 p.m.
