Fresno State falls at Nevada 4-3

RENO, Nev. - The Fresno State men's tennis dropped it regular-season finale at Nevada, 4-3, on Saturday at Caughlin Courts. It was the Bulldogs' fourth loss in conference play that came down to the final point.
For the third consecutive match, the 'Dogs grabbed the early advantage with the doubles point. Fresno State (9-16, 0-6 MW) picked up the first win of doubles play behind a 6-2 result from Jeremy Moser and Nikolas Papic in the No. 2 spot. After dropping the No. 1 match, 6-4, Youssef Hassan and Mantas Bugailiskis earned the Bulldogs the opening point with a 6-4 win on court three.
Bugailiskis then gave the 'Dogs a 2-0 advantage in the dual match by topping Mile Cilic 6-2, 6-4 in singles play. Nevada (6-14, 2-4 MW) then went on a run, picking up wins on courts six, one and four. Like he did two days ago, Euan McIntosh then leveled the match at three-all as he defeated Andrew Poustie 7-5, 7-6(4) on court two.
In the final match of the day, Hassan responded after falling a set down by winning the second, 6-4, to send the match to a third set. The Bulldog sophomore though was unable to pull out the win, as Robert Margitfalvi claimed the final set, 7-5.
Fresno State will now face top-seeded Utah State in Las Vegas, Nev., to open the Mountain West championship on April 29. Match time is scheduled for 9 a.m., PT at Fertitta Tennis Complex.
