FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State junior Annemarie Schwanz was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Team, released by the organization on Thursday to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Schwanz' CoSIDA nod comes after a weekend where she received her bachelor's degree in civil engineering (3.657 GPA) as well as the Distinguished International Student award from the university.
On the track, Schwanz set four school record in 2016 and helped set another apart of a relay team. She was named an All-Mountain West selection on the indoor and outdoor teams this season and qualified for 2016 NCAA postseason competition in the 1500m and 5000m outdoor races.
Only first teams were chosen for at-large district recognition (divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada), so all honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
