Haney shines, Walker climbs record book on day one

WALNUT, Calif. - Senior thrower Tearra Haney was the lone Bulldog to compete on Thursday at the Mt. Sac Relays. She competed in the javelin, finishing second with a mark of 45.23m/148-4 on her first attempt.

Haney held on to the furthest throw of the event until Arizona's Emily Psarras threw for the winning mark of 45.28m/148-6 on her third attempt. Haney saw fouls on her third and fourth attempt before two more tosses over 40 meters to close it out.

AZUSA, Calif. - A pair of Bulldogs competed in the women's 3000m steeplechase on Thursday at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Rhiannon Walker ran her race with a personal-best 10:44.30 on Thursday evening. She bettered her personal-best time by over three seconds and jumped to No. 4 all-time at Fresno State. She ran the fastest steeplechase race by a Bulldog since 2008 (Meredith Hawkins, 10:42.33).

Kylie Ward ran her race in 11:02.15 on Thursday.
