A look at the record book
A handful of Bulldogs have posted Top 10 marks this season:
Â
Home soil
Fresno State hosts three meets in the Central Valley this season. The first was the West Coast Relays earlier this spring. After this weekend's competitions, Fresno State will close the regular season with the Fresno State Invitational on May 1-2 before hosting the Mountain West Championships on May 14-16. All home meets will be held at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis.
Â
King of the Jumps
Jabari King has been steady in the long jump this season, and posted a season-best leap of 7.51m/24-7.75 to take second at the West Coast Relays. It was his second-straight week with a personal-best, bettering his previous mark of 7.40m/24-3.5 set at the Cal Invitational. King has placed first or second at all four of five meets this spring. Last time out, he took fourth at the Stanford Invitational.
Â
Triple jump show out
Junior Josh Dunu took second in the triple jump at the West Coast Relays. Dunu leaped for a lifetime best 15.02m/49-3.5 jump, his first career jump over 15 meters. He had the longest jump by a Bulldog in the event in the last two seasons.
Â
Outdoor Liz is SO back
Coming off of her indoor title, junior Liz Tarczy will switch gears into outdoor season. She currently has the No. 2 mark all-time at 1.83m/6-0, set last spring. The current program record is 1.86m/6-1.25, and has been untouched since 1987. At the West Coast Relays, Tarczy won the event with a jump of 1.82m/5-11.5. She is currently 16th nationally and second in the MW.
Â
Moment for the throwers
Zoe Yeast and Tearra Haney have held their own in the throws events this spring.
Â
Yeast has been a star in her first outdoor season for the Bulldogs. After redshirting the outdoor season last year, she has finished in the Top 3 in each of her meets this spring. She has earned two wins on the year, including a win at the West Coast Relays. The Louisville transfer has just this year of eligibility remaining and is making the most of it. She saw a personal-best mark of 61.02m/200-2 in the hammer throw at the Stanford Invitational last time out, taking second place in the field. Her throw was the eighth-furthest throw in program history. It was the second time this season that she bettered her previous mark.
Haney added a personal-best performance in the hammer throw at the West Coast Relays, placing third at 54.28m (178-1). Haney continued her momentum into Saturday, opening day two with a third-place finish in the javelin (43.07m/141-3) at Veterans Memorial Stadium. She later added a runner-up finish in the discus, recording a throw of 46.92m (153-11) on her first attempt.
