Gudrun Bjorgvinsdottir and Mimi Ho of the women’s golf team pick up prestigious honors Tuesday
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - For the second consecutive year, the Bulldogs duo of Gudrun Bjorgvinsdottir and Mimi Ho were named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Association (WGCA). All student-athletes are required to carry at minimum a 3.50 GPA to be recognized by the organization.
Bjorgvinsdottir, who will be entering her senior season in the fall, is coming off a junior campaign that saw her card a team-best 73.32 season scoring average. She was one of three Bulldogs to compete in all 11 tournaments and she placed in the top 15 in seven of those events.
Ho, a soon-to-be junior, recorded a 75.77 season scoring average during her second season as a Bulldog in 2015-16. She was also one of three to participate in all 11 tournaments and registered three top 20 finishes.
In all, 858 women's collegiate golfers (DI, DII, and DIII) were recognized with the prestigious honor in 2016, an increase from 748 a year ago.
Prior to Bjorgvinsdottir, a kinesiology major, and Ho, a child development major, taking back-to-back honors, Madchen Ly was the last Bulldog to receive the distinction (following the 2011-12 season).
