FRESNO, Calif. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its preseason rankings on Tuesday. Euan McIntosh and Mantas Bugailiskis claimed the No. 37 spot on the list. The duo also qualified for the All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. this fall.
They were one of two Mountain West doubles teams to earn a preseason national ranking and one of four MW doubles teams to qualify for the All-American Championships. McIntosh and Bugailiskis were named to the All-MW doubles team last season. They finished with a 10-3 record they ended the season ranked nationally at No. 80.
This is Fresno State's first ITA national doubles preseason ranking since the 2011-12 season, and the first under the leadership of head coach Luke Shields entering his second season.
"I'm happy to see these guys move up the rankings," Shields said. "They are just scratching the surface of what they can do."
The pair will compete in the All-American Championships Oct. 1-10, selected as one of 61 qualifying doubles teams. Â Teammates Patrik Pech and Jeremy Moser will also compete in the championships in singles.
"All-Americans in Tulsa, Okla. will be a great test for Patrik, Jeremy, Mantas, and Euan," added Shields. "They get the opportunity to play against the best in the country and show off their skills."
The Bulldogs open up their fall campaign on Sept. 23 at the University of Arizona's Fall Invitational.
