Bulldogs advance in Wildcat Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz.- The Fresno State men's tennis team opened up their fall season at Arizona's Wildcat Invitational on Friday. Sophomores Patrik Pech and Jeremy Moser along with freshman Bailey Gong traveled to Tuscon, Ariz. to represent the Bulldogs. All three Fresno State competitors advanced to the second round on the first day of the invitational.

In the singles A Draw Pech defeated Lorenzo Fucile of Grand Canyon (7-6, 1-6, 6-4). He later fell to Arizona's Will Kneale in the second round (6-3, 6-1).

Playing as the No. 3 seed in the singles B Draw Moser defeated Valentin Lang of Grand Canyon (4-6, 6-4, 7-5). Moser's second match was delayed due to weather and will resume tomorrow with Moser up a set.

Playing in the singles C Draw, Gong received a first round bye and went on to defeat Rafa Lira of Grand Canyon in the second round (6-3, 6-3).

Pech and Moser defeated Northern Arizona's duo of Schumann and Montano (6-4). The pair will face Espias and Asmar of New Mexico State tomorrow in the second round of the doubles draw.

The Bulldogs will resume play tomorrow at 8 a.m. PT.
