Bulldogs look to stay hot at home
Prior to the Bulldogs' MW opening weekend in Nevada, Fresno State had won its previous five games, including its last three at home. During that span, the 'Dogs outscored opponents 10-4 and had three shutouts. Two Bulldogs were also honored in September as MW Players of the Week (Julia Glaser – Offensive, Alex Best – Defensive).
Focused on the Mountain West
Fresno State is 2-2 all-time in MW home-openers, the last one coming against Nevada (3-1) in 2013. Since the 'Dogs joined the MW in 2012, the Aztecs have captured the MW regular-season title each year and the Bulldogs have yet to defeat them. Similarly, New Mexico has proven to be a challenge, as it holds a 3-0-1 MW record against Fresno State.
Delgadillo continues to lead
Junior forward Myra Delgadillo continues to lead the Bulldogs with 15 points, five goals, five assists, 34 shots and 14 shots on goal, already setting career-highs in points, assists and shots. Among those in the MW, she is tied for first in shots and shots per game, second in assists per game, tied for second in goals, goals per game and assists, and third in points and points per game.
About the Aztecs (4-5, 2-0 MW)
San Diego State hits the road after winning four of its last five games, all coming by shutout. Aliyah Utush leads the Aztecs with six points (2 goals, 2 assists), while Gabby English has protected the net all year, most recently earning the honor of MW Defensive Player of the Week after shutting out Air Force and Colorado College last weekend.
About the Lobos (4-4-2, 0-2-0 MW)
New Mexico travels to Fresno after home losses to Air Force and Colorado College last weekend. Offensively, the Lobos are led by Claire Lynch and Maddie Irwin with four goals each. Tayler Hammack has recorded most of the minutes in the goalkeeper position for New Mexico, earning a 43 saves and a 1.17 goals-against average.
