Bulldogs host two more home matches; Tuesday vs. SDSU live on Stadium

The match vs. San Diego State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. will be televised live on Stadium, an over-the-air TV channel which is available in several markets, including Fresno on channel 26-4. To find the local channel in your area, click here. The match will also stream on Stadium's live feed on Twitter. Like all MW matches, the contest will also be streaming live on the Mountain West Network.Â

Scouting San Diego State (7-10, 1-3 MW)
• San Diego State has had the exact same results as the Bulldogs through four conference matches, losing to Utah State, Boise State, and San Jose State before a 3-0 win over Nevada. The Aztecs pushed San Jose State to five sets at home, narrowly losing the fifth set 17-15.
• Picked to finish third in the preseason MW Coaches' Poll, SDSU went 6-7 in non-conference play and has a 1-4 record on the road this year, losing two straight road matches.
• The Aztecs rank last in the league in service aces per set (0.92) and are second to last in the league in opposing hitting percentage and blocks. Deja Harris is second in the conference hitting .367 and leads the team with 2.95 kills per set and 1.13 blocks per set this year.
• SDSU head coach Deitre Collins-Parker enters the match with 299 career wins in 22 seasons.

Scouting Air Force (7-11, 0-4 MW)
• After being picked to finish in last place in the preseason Coaches' Poll, Air Force was 7-7 in non-conference play but has started 0-4 in league matches, with all four matches at home. The Falcons have been swept three times in MW play but did push San Jose State to five sets.
• Air Force has played 67 sets this year, the most in the MW and seven more than the 'Dogs.
• The Falcons are last in the Mountain West and 324th out of 329 Div. I teams in the country averaging just 11.73 digs per set and rank second to last in the league with 11.33 assists per set. Air Force has hit .097 in conference play but is averaging 2.68 blocks per set in four matches.
• Piper Heineck ranks second in the MW with 1.30 blocks per set this season and is fourth in the league in aces. Denise Ssozi leads the team with 3.49 kills per set but is hitting just .126.

Home Cooking
• The Bulldogs extended their home winning streak to four matches, dating back to the 2016 season, with the win over Nevada before the streak was ended by San Jose State.
• Fresno State is 2-1 at home this season averaging 3.64 blocks per set on its home floor, tallying at least 13.0 blocks in two of the three matches.
• The 'Dogs have outblocked their opponents 40.0-17.0 at home while outhitting the opposition .246-.177 over 11 home sets.

Taylor Terrific
• Junior Taylor Slover put together one of the best matches of her career on Saturday, hitting .514 with 21 kills and just two attack errors against San Jose State. She finished just shy of her career-high of 25 kills tallied in the 2017 season opener vs. Utah Valley.
• Slover also led the team in kills on Thursday while recording her second career double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.
• For the season Slover ranks fourth in the Mountain West averaging 4.04 points per set. She has led the team in kills in 10 of 16 matches this year.

• Fresno State changed to a 6-2 lineup for both matches last week and saw strong results, specifically in hitting and serving.
• Madelyn Halteman and Sydney Lostumo split time as setter in the formation and combined for 10.38 assists per set with eight service aces. Both setters averaged at least 5.00 assists per set and they led the team to a .262 hitting percentage, swinging .327 vs. San Jose State.

Finally Home
• After playing just one official home match over the first 34 days of the season Fresno State is in the midst of four home matches over an eight-day stretch.
• Thirteen of Fresno State's first 14 official matches of the season were played outside of Fresno. The team played on the road for five consecutive weeks with just one midweek home match Sept. 5 vs. CSU Bakersfield (the Fresno Pacific match was an exhibition).
• The Bulldogs played road matches in four states and two time zones, picking up two road wins and two neutral site wins.

• Fresno State ranks second in the Mountain West and 27th in NCAA Div. I with 156.0 blocks this season. The 'Dogs average of 2.60 blocks per set is also third best in the league.
• Fresno State has recorded double-digit blocks in eight matches this year and has had more blocks than its opponent eight times.
• Haile Watson and Lauren Torres are both averaging better than one block per set this season while Taylor Slover and Brielle Hefner average better than half a block.

• Freshman Sydney Lostumo made her Fresno State debut as the starting setter in the team's MW opener at Boise State.
• Through four matches played she has averaged 6.80 assists and 1.47 digs per set as well as a team-high 0.47 aces per set with seven aces and only five service errors.

• Dating back to last season the Bulldogs have won four of their last five home matches (five of six including the Fresno Pacific exhibition).
• The squad has had a winning home record in each of the last two years and in five of the last six seasons.

• Junior Brielle Hefner has been a consistent offensive threat all season as she leads the team hitting .269 and is second with 2.65 kills per set.
• Hefner had her best match at San Francisco, recording a career-high 25 kills while hitting .404. She had 13 kills and no errors on her first 26 swings of the match as she more than doubled her previous career high of 12 kills and tied for the most kills by a Bulldog this season.

Aces Aplenty
• After leading the Mountain West and ranking 15th in NCAA Div. I averaging 1.67 service aces per set last season, the 'Dogs are averaging 1.35 aces per set so far this year.
• The Bulldogs are averaging 1.64 aces per set at home this year after tallying 15 in two home matches last week.
• Fresno State totaled 24 aces in its first three matches (10 sets) of the season while allowing just 13 aces from its opponents.

• On Sept. 5 Fresno State recorded 21.0 blocks, a program record for a three-set match and the highest three-set total recorded by a Div. I team this season.
• The Bulldogs broke the previous three-set program record of 15.0 blocks set against Hawaii in 2007. The squad came within one block of the overall program record of 22.0 blocks set in a four-set match
• The total was the highest for any Div. I match this season before Western Kentucky tallied 23.0 blocks in a five-set match. The 'Dogs had five blocks in the first set, nine in the second set, and seven in the third set.
