Thibault, Muirhead fire top 10 scores during LVCS opening round

The second round will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday morning with a shotgun start
Boulder City, Nev. – Among a 16-team field at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, the Fresno State women's golf team is in fifth place following Sunday's opening round. The 'Dogs fired a 4-under-par 284 and are nine strokes behind the event leader, Missouri, at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

Leading the way were a pair of freshmen, Brigitte Thibault and Alison Muirhead, who each fired a 3-under-par 69. The single round score tied Thibault's season-best while it was Muirhead's lowest to date. Thibault and Muirhead are tied for ninth place.

Of the 96 ladies in the field, Muirhead led the group with eight birdies on Sunday.

Senior Mimi Ho was also under-par for the Bulldogs. She carded a 1-under-par 71 and is tied for 19th.

Rounding out the six Bulldogs in action on Sunday were Emma Larsson, who fired a 3-over-par 75 (T-58th), and Samantha Spencer and Kelsi Stieler, who each recorded a 4-over-par 76 (T-70th).

The second round of the Las Vegas College Showdown will begin Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. PT. The final round will also start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday to conclude the event. Live scoring is available at BirdieFire.com.
