'Dogs prepare for UCSB Classic

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Fresno State men's tennis team will compete in the UCSB Classic this weekend. Jeremy Moser, Cem Erturk, Henrique Osorio and Cagatay Soke will be making the trip for the Bulldogs. The field features players from the Pac-12's University of Washington, Cal, UCLA and Stanford while also having athletes from UCSB, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, St. Mary's, Cal Poly and Pacific. The UCSB Classic begins Friday, Oct. 6 at 12 p.m. with the doubles portion of the tournament and runs through Sunday, Oct. 8.
In doubles, the duo of Moser and Soke will play in doubles Flight A of the tournament. The 'Dogs will face Somer and Lam of Washington in the first round. Osorio and Erturk will make their debut as a doubles team this weekend, facing Watson and Solbas of Pacific in the first round of Flight B.
Moser, who played in the No. 6 singles position last season for the 'Dogs, will compete in Flight AÂ of the tournament. Moser will face Bjorn Hoffman of Cal in the first round.
Erturk will make his Fresno State debut in Flight B of the tournament. The freshman will play Bryce Pereira of UCLA in the first round. Osorio joins Erturk in Flight B. Osorio, who played primarily in the No. 4 position for Fresno State last season, will face Dominic Barretto of Cal.
Soke, who joins the 'Dogs this season as a sophomore after transferring from Texas A&M CC, will compete in Flight C. He will face Jackson Suh of Cal in the first round.
Flight A of the tournament will take place at the Recreation Center Courts while Flights B and C of the Classic will be taking place at the Rob Gym Courts and the D flight taking place at the Stadium Courts.
