Women’s Golf opens play at Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

The second and third rounds will be played Saturday, starting with a shotgun start at 5:30 a.m. PT
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Bulldogs learned after Friday's first round of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, hosted by Kentucky, that they'll have to climb out of their opening round 13th place tie in one day, as the event was changed to a 36-hole format on Saturday due to inclement weather forecast for Sunday.
Fresno State's third tournament of the fall, at University Club of Kentucky's Big Blue Course (par 72, 6,221 yards), was originally slated for 18 holes each day, Friday-Sunday.
Individually, senior Mimi Ho is on top of the Fresno State leaderboard, having shot a first round 2-over-par 74. Ho fired three birdies in the opening round, including one on the 18th to close out Friday's round. She is tied for 23rd.
In her first competition of the season, junior Kelsi Stieler carded a 3-over-par 75 and sits in a tie for 29th. She was even-par on the front-nine and 3-over-par on the back side.
Freshman Emma Larsson is tied for 36th after an opening round 4-over-par 76 and sophomore Hayden Mammen is one shot behind (77), sitting in a tie for 46th.
Freshman Brigitte Thibault recorded an 11-over-par 83, breaking her run of four-straight rounds carded 72 or lower. She is tied for 87th.
Senior Samantha Spencer, in her first competition since the Fresno State Classic last spring, shot a 14-over-par 86 and is tied for 93rd.
The second round of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational will begin Saturday morning with a shotgun start at 5:30 a.m. PT. The final round will immediately follow the second round to conclude the event. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
