Aggies best 'Dogs 4-3

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State men's tennis team fell to UC Davis 4-3 Wednesday afternoon.
Fresno State falls to 6-5 on the season.
The Bulldogs' have had three consecutive matches decided by one point, and five total matches this season.
Bulldogs claim doubles point
Fresno State won the doubles point against really consistent UC Davis doubles teams. The Aggies were 8-1 on the season in winning the doubles point coming into the match.
Patrik Pech and Euan McIntosh defeated the Aggies at the No. 1 doubles spot 6-4.
The Aggies claimed a 6-4 win at the No. 2 doubles court. Â
The Fresno State duo of Zdenek Derkas and Youssef Hassan bested UC Davis at the No. 3 doubles spot 6-2, to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead going into singles.
Aggies barely edge out 'Dogs in singles
Mantas Bugailiskis started strong for Fresno State defeating Tommy Lam in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) at the No. 6 spot.
UC Davis claimed the point at the No. 2 position when James Wade defeated Euan McIntosh 7-5, 6-3 to put the Aggies within one.
At the no. 1 position, Xander Veys fell to UC Davis' Alec Adamson in three-sets (1-6.6-4,6-3) to tie the match at 2-2.
Youssef Hassan regained the lead for the Bulldogs at the No. 5 position when he bested Jesse Ross in three-sets (4-6, 6-3, 7-5).
The Aggies claimed the point at the No. 4 position when Everett Maltby defeated Henrique Orosio in three-sets (3-6, 7-5, 6-2).
The match came down to the No. 3 position third-set tiebreaker. Bryce McKelvie of UC Davis defeated Zdenek Derkas 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) to clinch the match for the Aggies.
What's next?
The Bulldogs go on the road to compete in the Pacific Tournament March 4-5.
Fresno State returns home to host Pacific Monday, March 13 at 1 p.m. PT in the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
