Bulldogs finish 2-0 on trip to Hawai’i with 5-2 win on Saturday

Saturday’s win extended Fresno State’s winning streak to six.
HONOLULU – The Fresno State women's tennis team wrapped up its trip to Hawai'i on Saturday with a 5-2 victory over the host school at the UH Tennis Complex. With a 2-0 record in Honolulu, the Bulldogs extended their winning streak to six with one match to play before conference matches begins in April.
The 'Dogs got off to a good start in double play behind 6-1 and 6-2 wins from their No. 3 and No. 1 teams, respectively. Freshmen Georgia Lawson and Katerina Stloukalova then pushed the team within one point of winning the dual match. Lawson claimed her third win in her last four results, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6. Stloukalova then upset No. 105 Cindy Nguyen on Court 1, 6-3, 6-1.
For the second time on the trip, senior Galina Bykova handed Fresno State the dual match win, today with 6-0, 6-4 result in the No. 3 spot against Roxanne Resma as the Bulldogs took a 4-0 advantage. Freshman Juliane Triebe tacked on Fresno State's final point of the day with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Michelle Pits on Court 4.
The 'Dogs will return home for their final non-conference match of the season on March 29 as they host No. 35 Oregon at 1 p.m. PT at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
