Fresno State falls to No. 40 Washington 6-1

HONOLULU – The Fresno State men's tennis team fell to No. 40 Washington 6-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs fall to 9-10 on the season.
Huskies grab the doubles point
Washington earned wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to earn the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into singles.
'Dogs were edged out in singles
Amit Batta deafted Youssef Hassan at the No. 5 position 6-1, 6-2 to put Washington up 2-0. Batta came into the match with a 10-0 dual record.
Washington's Gal Hakak defeated Henrique Osorio at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-2, giving the Huskies a 3-0 lead.
The match was clinched in the No. 3 spot when Jake Douglas defeated Zdenek Derkas 6-4, 6-1.
Euan McIntosh fell to Mitch Stewart in a tiebreaker to put the Huskies up 5-0.
Xander Veys defeated Enzo Sommer at the No. 1 position in a third set tiebreaker to give Fresno State its first point of the match.
On court six, Mantas Bugailiskis fell in a hard fought third set tiebreaker to give the Huskies their final point, 6-1.
What's next?
Fresno State opens up Mountain West play on the road against New Mexico Friday, March 31. Before returning home to host Air Force Sunday, April 2 at 10 a.m. PT in the Wathen G. Spalding Tennis Center.
